Playing with Alchol Inks

A few months ago a very sweet friend of mine shared a YouTube video by Mindy Eggen with me that was all about alcohol ink "lifting".  I'll be honest, despite having seen others create some amazing art with alcohol inks I had yet to take the plunge myself.  After seeing that video however I knew I had to give it a go!

So off I went (the next day no less) to gather a new collection of inks, papers, blending solution and a blower tool. I of course did not have the same stamp sets as shared in the video, but rather then going ALL out crazy and buying new stamps sets, I felt that I could find something in my stash that would work for now.  The cards I'm sharing with you today are the results of my first attempt using these inks.

I used Yupo paper and started by added blending solution, and then randomly adding ink colours.  I really didn't know what I was doing and as mentioned I had no experience with these types of inks, but boy oh boy.. it was almost therapeutic to just mess around and see what would happen!

Once the alcohol ink was dry, I pulled out a few stamp sets that I thought might work and stamped them onto the backgrounds using Rangers alcohol lift ink. I trimmed each of them down to mount onto an A2 card base and added a few die cuts, sentiments and embellishments to finish them off into cards.

Since then I've watched more videos and am now working on making flowers - so fun, but I'll share that another day!

If you want to check out the video that I mentioned earlier, you can do so HERE.
